LeafReader is a quiet, focused reading app for your Windows desktop. It opens almost any book you already own, keeps them in one tidy library, and stays completely out of your way while you read. Everything happens on your own computer. There is no account to create, no subscription, no ads, and no connection to any server. Your books, your notes and your reading history never leave your device. ONE READER FOR EVERY FORMAT LeafReader handles the formats real libraries are made of: - EPUB - the open standard used by most ebook stores and public libraries - MOBI, AZW and AZW3 - classic and modern Kindle formats - FB2 - widely used for classic literature collections - PDF - documents, manuals, textbooks and scanned books - CBZ and CBR - comics and graphic novels You do not have to think about which file is which. Add it to your library and LeafReader chooses the right reading experience for it automatically. A LIBRARY, NOT A FOLDER Add one book or point LeafReader at a folder holding hundreds. Covers, titles, authors and chapter lists are read from the files themselves, so your shelf looks like a real bookshelf instead of a list of filenames. Large imports keep running in the background. Your books appear on the shelf immediately and fill in their details as they are processed, so you can start reading the first one while the rest are still being added. If you close the app mid-import, it picks up exactly where it left off next time. Group your books into collections that match how you actually read - by subject, by project, by series, or by what you plan to read next. Mark favorites, track what you have finished, and pick up any book exactly where you stopped. READING THAT ADAPTS TO YOU Comfort matters more than features when you are reading for hours. Choose from five carefully tuned themes: Warm Paper, White, Sepia, Sage and Night. Pick from four typefaces, including a monospace face that some readers find easier to track. Adjust font size and line spacing until the page feels right, and read in clean pages or continuous scroll, whichever suits you. For comics, a two-page spread mode presents facing pages the way the artist intended, with page thumbnails for jumping around quickly. HAVE YOUR BOOKS READ TO YOU Some days you want to keep reading with your hands and eyes somewhere else. Switch on read-aloud and LeafReader narrates the book while you cook, walk on a treadmill, or rest your eyes. Use any voice already installed on your PC, and set the pace anywhere from half speed to double. Pause and pick the thread back up, or step back a sentence when your attention drifts. A progress bar tracks how far the narration has reached, and pages turn on their own, so a book keeps playing chapter after chapter without a single click. Your voice and speed are remembered for next time. Like everything else here, narration runs entirely on your own computer. PDFS WITH REAL, SELECTABLE TEXT Many readers turn PDF pages into flat pictures, so you cannot select a sentence, copy a quote, or search for a term. LeafReader renders PDFs with a genuine text layer, so text stays selectable, copyable and searchable - and you can highlight inside a PDF just like any other book. Page thumbnails and the document's own outline make long PDFs easy to navigate. HIGHLIGHTS AND NOTES THAT STAY USEFUL Select any passage to highlight it, attach a note to it, or drop a bookmark you can return to later. Add tags to your annotations and filter your notes by tag, so a year of reading does not turn into an unsearchable pile. When you want your thinking somewhere else, export your highlights and notes as Markdown and take them into any note-taking app you already use. Your words remain yours. SEARCH EVERYTHING YOU OWN Half-remember a passage but not the book it came from? Search the full text of your entire library at once and jump straight to the result. Inside a book, find any word or phrase and move between matches without losing your place. PRIVATE BY DESIGN LeafReader has no accounts, no sign-in, no telemetry and no analytics. It does not phone home, and it does not need an internet connection to do anything at all. Your library lives in a folder on your computer that you can back up or move like any other files.
