Most timers count down at you. Stillglass shows you the shape of the time instead. Pick a duration and the whole session becomes one bounded visual: sand falling through an hourglass, a ring quietly closing, or a glass filling with water. You can tell how much of your session is left with a glance, without reading a single number — and without the low-level urgency that a flashing countdown puts in the room. Stillglass is a small, calm desktop app. No account, no cloud, no subscription. Your sessions stay on your computer. WATCH THE TIME, DON'T READ IT Three visuals ship with the app, and each timer remembers the one you chose: • Hourglass — sand drains from the upper chamber into the lower one • Ring — a circle closes steadily around the centre • Water — a level rises through a glass until the session is full If you want the digits as well, turn on the exact time beneath the visual. If you would rather have less movement on screen, Reduce Motion calms the animation right down. TIMERS YOU BUILD ONCE AND REUSE A timer in Stillglass is a small ritual you save and come back to: a duration, a visual, an accent colour and the cues you want at either end. Set up "Deep work 50", "Reading 25", "Evening wind-down 15" once, and after that starting a session is a single click in the sidebar. Every timer carries its own settings, so a long writing block and a short reading block don't have to behave the same way. A FLOATING TIMER FOR THE REST OF YOUR WORK Focus rarely happens inside the timer app. Send Stillglass into floating mode and the window shrinks to a compact timer that stays above your other windows, so the visual is still there in the corner while you work in your editor, your browser or your notes. Bring it back to full size whenever you like. PAUSE, EXTEND, AND STOP WITHOUT LOSING YOUR RECORD Sessions are yours to steer. Pause when someone interrupts you and the clock stops with you — paused time is never counted as focus. Resume when you're back. If you're in flow when the timer runs out, extend the session and keep going rather than restarting from nothing. The time is tracked with real care. Reloading, closing the window, or letting the machine sleep will not inflate your record or lose the focus you actually put in. And if you start a timer and immediately change your mind, nothing is written down at all — your history never fills up with empty entries. SEE YOUR RHYTHM OVER TIME The Rhythm view turns your sessions into something you can actually read: focused minutes per day, how your week is shaped, which of your timers you really use, and how you are tracking against the daily and weekly targets you set for yourself. It is built to encourage a habit, not to shame you for a quiet day. Days with no focus are simply quiet. MADE TO STAY OUT OF THE WAY • A plain, quiet surface — nothing on screen moves except the timer itself • Keyboard shortcuts for switching views, opening preferences and starting or pausing the running session • A gentle chime at the end of a session, and ambient sound while it runs, both optional • Choose what happens when a session ends: ask, start the next one, or simply stop • Available in English, Simplified and Traditional Chinese, Japanese, Korean, French, German, Spanish and Portuguese PRIVATE BY DEFAULT Stillglass has no account system and nothing to sign in to. Your timers and your session history are stored on your own computer and are never uploaded anywhere. There is no tracking and no advertising. Set a duration, watch the glass, and let the session run itself.
